Machalkova, Leona

Czech pop female singer. In the beginnins she sang folk and experimental jazz. Graduated in History and Czech Language at the University of Olomouc. In 1991 she moved from Prerov, Moravia to Prague. She moderated radio broadcasting of Europe 2 and Czech TV and performed in the popular small theatre Semafor. Roles in musicals West Side Story (1993) and Jesus Christ Superstar (1994). The turning point of her career was the role in the musical Dracula (1995). It brought her commercial success, recording fo Warner Music and more successful musical roles (Monte Cristo 2001, Les Miserables 2004, Angelika 2007).
