Gott, Karel

the best known Czech pop singer ever. Frequent winner of the annual Czech pop chart (Golden / Czech Nightingale). Beloved by fans of "great voices", hated by the rest due to absence of good taste and readiness to sing anything from Elvis-like Rock'n'Roll to swing, country, brass music or even opera. Anyway, he has merit in popularization of rock'n'roll music in Czechoslovakia on the turn of 1950s and 1960s. His discography is hard to sort out; it consists of hundreds of albums, many of them issued abroad, mostly in Germany where he is very popular. Only a few selected titles are provided here.
