Jiri Ignac Linek (1725-1791)
Czech composer. Studied at the piaristic grammar school in Kosmonosy (close to Mlada Boleslav), schoolmate of J.A.Benda. Musical studies with Mr J. Seger in Prague. Since 1747 schoolmaster in Bakov nad Jizerou, also municipal scrivener and writer. One of the most important representatives of Czech schoolmasters, in whose works classicism was articulated with tendency to traditional folk song and its simple periodicity. In his pastorellas often appear precise quotations of folk songs.
