A trial with girls punk band takes place in Moscow. The girls have been accused of "desecrating" of an orthodox church by singing a punk prayer for Vladimir Putin's expulsion from Kremlin. An essay on the way democracy and religion work not only in Russia can be found on my blog.
As it is just in Czech language, I decided to put a summary in English here:
Religion is the greatest deception in the human history. God is a myth invented by Church as a means to manipulate the masses. In the name of God, people have been burnt, sent to wars, imprisoned and starved. The very same people that deserved love, as the Godly Myth says himself.
Democracy is another myth that has very much in common with God. Everybody speaks about it but no one really knows what it looks like. Democracy cannot work. As people cannot rule themselves all together (that would be quite a mess, of course), they have to choose representatives to rule. Once the representatives get the power, they get convinced they deserve it because they are harder working, smarter, simply better than the others. So they think they deserve more influence, more power, more money. And they take it, just because they can. There is no force to stop that, neither the myth called Democracy nor the myth called God. In some countries the things work better than in others (in US or EU Pussy Riot would never get behind the bars, while in some Islamic countries, they might be sentenced to death for the same "crime"). But do not get misunderstood: there is no place on Earth where democracy really works.
So what is the solution?
I believe if I had the solution, I might deserve to be called a God. Or at least, to be democratically elected a President of the Earth.
Yet I hope there is something we can and we should do: learn. The more people know, the more they start to value other things than power or money. The most educated people usually find the greatest pleasure in helping the others, rather than overpowering them. That is the nature of knowledge and wisdom: it reveals the good in us (and please, do not mistake the Good for the God).
So here is my advise: let's learn ourselves and let's help others to learn, too. The more the better.
It is not a quick solution but it is a chance that the world will get better in the end.
