Precedens
active from year 1981

Czech band, becoming famous in Prague rock clubs since April 1982 by their raw postpunk style, later heading to New Romance. In the beginnings, besides leader Martin Nemec, the main personality was Jan Sahara Hedl - singer and guitarist with unbeatable songwriting potential (see album Praprecedens with early recordins). Another important personality was singer Bara Basikova, ath that time probably the best Czech rock female singer. In 1988 Basikova left the band for a solo career and the band named Precedens slowly disappeared from the scene (in fact, the band partly goes on as Basikova's backing band under the name Basic Beat). In the late 1990's, with a new line-up (without Basikova) and the old name, Precedens is coming back with a brisk rock'n'roll music. In 2005, Basikova is coming back.
