Grossmann, Jiri

actor, playwright, singer, lyrics writer, musician. He studied civil engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague; however, even during studies, he performed in the Olympic club with the group Karkulka as actor, singer and author. He became famous as a part of humorists duo with Miroslav Simek, first at Olympic club, since 1968 at Semafor Theatre. He wrote a number of lyrics for his singing colleagues from Semafor, the most famous of which is the song Zavidim (Envying) in which he deals with his cancer which he died of a few months later.
