Deczi, Laco

Slovak jazz trumpeter, composer, occasional actor and amateur painter. In 1960s-1980s worked with top Czechoslovak jazz bands (S+HQ, TOCR/JOCR etc.), besides that he had his own Cellula Jazz combo. In 1985 emigrated to West Germany, since 1986 lives in East Haven, Connecticut. Here he played with top U.S. jazz musicians and founded Jazz Cellula New York with his son Ladislav ("Vajco") who plays drums. After 1989 he comes back to perform in Czech Republic and Slovakia. His son Vajco also performs with Czech musicians (Jazz Q).
