Ali Ibn Rachid
active from year 1985
Slovak experimental band founded in 1985 in Presov by two graduates of Kosice Conservatory, violinist Lubomir Burgr and double bass player Martin Marincak. Musical inspiration anywhere, from freejazz to Zappa and King Crimson, from Slovak scene obvious influence by Dezo Ursiny and Gattch. After the first album in 1992 practically disbanded; several comeback attempts, two more excellent albums but none of the attempts lasted too long. Very interesting music, unfortunatelly almost completely forgotten.
