Bobek, Pavel
active from year 1957

in 1960's one of the Czech Rock'n'roll pioneers. Started singing in mid-50's with the university band FAPS Orchestra. In 1963-65 singing with Olympic, then 2 years in Apollo, then acting in Semafor Theatre, Prague. During 1970's changing the style to Country&Western and has a lot of country hits, mosty cover versions of American Singers as Kris Kristofferson or Johnny Cash (Oh Ruby - Houston - Ved me dal, cesto ma - Take Me Home Country Road - Lasko, mne ubyva sil etc.). In his latest period heading almost to chanson. The song Usvit is probably the first Czech reggae-style recording ever (1970).
