Burian, Jan

Great folk-rock singer and songwriter, movie director and TV moderator. He comes from musical family, his father E.F.Burian was famous avant-garde playwrite and musician, his grandpa was opera singer, his grand-father-in-law Karel Burian was world-wide famous opera tenor. Jan graduated in journalism at Charles University in Prague. In the beginnings of his career he was known as a member of folk-duo Burian-Dedecek. Later he cooperated with a number of famous Czech rock and jazz musicians (Dan Fikez, Petr Skoumal, Vladimir Misik, Alan Vitous, Lubor Sonka). His solo recordings, though in simple voice&piano arrangements, possess rock drive and melodical invention which makes them underestimated juwels among Czech songsters.
