Garaz
years active: 1980 - 1994

the best known Czech underground band in the 1980's, together with Pulnoc successors of the Plastic People Of The Universe and DG307. In the time of communism no chance to have an official recording; they issued three demo cassettes on their own. These recordings were issued later on LP#1 and CD "Demo 2" that was only published as a part of the 4-CD compilation. Besides the founder Pospisil, two other personalities were crucial: Tony Duchacek as frontman and lyrics writer, and "the man behind" Milan Hlavsa as the author of their greatest hits (as a former member of forbidden Plastic People band, he was not allowed to play in public; that is why he sometimes played guitar with the band in concerts, standing behind the curtain). Hlavsa became a regular member for a short time in the late 1980s but then he dedicated himself fully to his band Pulnoc, a continuation of former Plastic People. In 1993 the founder and the only member of the original Garaz line-up Ivo Pospisil left the band and went on with new staff under the original name. The rest continue with Tony Duchacek under a modified name Garage. Pospisil recorded one album under Ivan Kral production, then his Garaz finally disbanded. Garage with Tony Duchacek are still active.
