own name Frantisek Krejci; graduated at Charles Universiny of Prague in Musical Science and History; simultaneously studied composition, piano and conducting at Prague Conservatory. Before 1924 worked as musical reviewer; later fully concentrated on composing, conducting and staging. In 1945-1958 he was a director of Opera in the Theatre of Olomouc; since 1958 he worked as a dramaturgist of the National Theatre Opera in Prague. Most of his work is characteristic by its neoclassical form. Particularly his early compositions are very fresh, with concise but inventive expression and reference to Czech folk melodies.
